The view from the elevators was splendid, with Mts Hood, Adams and St Helens all visible in the clear spring weather. The postmaster on duty is a member of the Salem Stamp Club. Some were pleased with the comments and decided to keep the collection in the family.

The Doubletree Hotel was a much more central and spacious venue than that for PIPEX 2005, enabling the show to have 228 frames of exhibits and 38 dealers!

The USPS booth cancelled covers with a special pictorial cancel in the shape of Oregon to celebrate 150 years of statehood.

Grandma's Attic was often busy with people who had brought items in to be appraised.

The American Helvetia Philatelic Society held their annual meeting at PIPEX. This is the first time out for this excellent exhibit! Oops, dropped a medal level, due to the condition of a few of my covers!

The caliber of the exhibits was high. Gold medals were awarded to several of the Swiss exhibits, including Roger Heath's DeCoppet Razor Cancelers of Switzerland.

Roger's new one-frame Hotel Schweizerhof exhibit won the single frame Grand and Gold!

My New Hebrides / Nouvelles-Hébrides exhibit achieved a vermeil, one level below gold.

The next PIPEX is scheduled to be held in Spokane, WA in early June 2010 Wow, first time I have won anythng other than a medal! We'll see!

The PIPEX medal has 9 sides, one for each participating state (USA) or province (Canada) of the Northwest Federation of Stamp Clubs.

I was also given the AAPE Gold Award of Honor for excellence in presentation.

The new UEEF (Uniform Exhibit Evaluation Form) provided some nice comments about the "low cost" aspects of my exhibit, but they want me to dig deep!!
