The Columbia River Gorge, east of Portland, offers stunning views. Vista House, built in 1916, is accessible only from the Historic Columbia River Gorge Highway.

Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge is 189 metres (620 feet) high.

Mt Hood is visible from the Portland area. It is usually covered with more snow than this in October.

On a clear day in the Portland area, you can see Mt Rainier (left) and Mt St Helens (right).
