Seeing Sleeping Beauty Castle for the first time was an emotional moment for me, as that is the image I have of Disneyland from my childhood.
I particularly enjoyed the fireworks over the top of it at night. They were well-coordinated, and the best fireworks I have ever seen. There were boxes, planets and even this smiley face, as well as the more standard fireworks.
Here's an email photo I sent myself from the Buzz Lightyear ride. It's the first one we did. My score is abysmal as I am no good at shoot-em-up games. I got the hang of it a bit more though after a couple more rides.
My favourite ride was the spinning cups and saucers of the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, mainly because it is something I remember from childhood.
I found out that I like spinning rides, whereas they make Steve feel sick. He likes fast rollercoasters, which I found out I don't like, so after a couple of days, we were often going on different rides alone.
I finally got to meet Mickey on the last day!
The new park (Disney's California Adventure) has a different feel to it - more modern and not like the fairytale feeling of Disneyland.
I found Disneyland to be quite well-done, linking everything to one theme and keeping the quality of the experience high. The "cast members" were very friendly, and I found that refreshing after visiting Knott's Berry Farm, where the employees were much more casual.
